Transforming outdated, low-quality mobile classrooms into modern teaching facilities across two school sites in Northampton for Northampton County Council.

ed comprehensive groundworks, craning classrooms to new locations, complete roof strip and replacement, structural refurbishment, cladding, and full mechanical/electrical refit.
The key challenges were a constrained budget and tight timescales—with works primarily scheduled during school holidays—plus operating safely across two live school sites accommodating 1,400 and 1,700 pupils and staff respectively. Colonial's expert project management enabled detailed programming that facilitated simultaneous work on both sites through phased and controlled programmes, ensuring maximum efficiency and minimal disruption.
We implemented robust safeguarding-led delivery protocols tailored to the live school environment, while close collaboration with the architect, council, and school staff ensured seamless coordination. This approach successfully delivered future-ready learning environments that meet modern educational standards, while maintaining smooth school operations throughout the construction period
